Engine Lineup for the Ram 1500

Part of the appeal of a Ram truck like the 1500 is that you get the chance to customize aspects of your model. We’ll be discussing trim levels in a few sections which is the simplest way to personalize your truck. Yet there are also an assortment of engine options to consider!

To start, you have access to a pair of V6 motors. The first V6 is a 3.6L making 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. The alternative V6 is an EcoDiesel 3.0L making 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque.

The following V8 engines are available as well:

• 5.7L HEMI® making 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque
• Supercharged 6.2L HEMI® V8 making 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque

Maximum Towing Capacity and Payload

The Ram 1500 is certainly a good-looking model, yet it’s the capability most people look for when seeking a full-size truck. So how does the Ram 1500 fair when the going gets tough? Pretty darn well.

When you have the truck properly configured with the 5.7L HEMI®, you can expect a maximum towing capacity of 12,750 pounds. The high-strength steel frame of the Ram 1500 also allows the truck to reach a maximum payload capacity of 2,300 pounds.

Another key performance feature which improves ride quality and capability is the class-exclusive Active-Level™ Four Corner Air Suspension that lowers the truck when you get up to highway speeds.

The trim lineup starts with the Tradesman and Tradesman HFE and then moves to the Big Horn, Laramie, and Rebel. The Rebel places a great emphasis on off-roading ability. Then come the Limited Longhorn and the luxurious, fully loaded Limited—both ready to show off on the roads of Worcester, Auburn, and Shrewsbury, MA! The TRX tops off the lineup with off-road excellence.
