A Look at the Jeep Renegade MPG Rating

The Jeep Renegade often serves as a commuter, a family transporter, and a city companion. To provide the most long-range efficiency for the SUV, Jeep has tuned the Renegade to prioritize fuel economy in both engine offerings.

Take the standard 2.4L 4-cylinder as an example. Mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission, your SUV can deliver an EPA-estimated 22 city MPG/30 highway MPG. The alternative option, also mated to the 9-speed automatic, is even more efficient, delivering an EPA-estimated 24 city MPG/32 highway MPG.

Performance and Capability

In addition to giving you strong returns on fuel economy, the Jeep Renegade is a steady, adventurous SUV, very much in the mold of what the Jeep brand is known for.

What’s interesting about engine outputs for the Renegade is the smaller motor actually has the greater output. The little turbo 4-cylinder with just 1.3L is able to boast 177 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque. The larger 2.4L offering isn’t anything to scoff at, though, with a horsepower rating of 180 and 175 lb-ft of torque as well.

From there, capability is amplified by an array of features Jeep has refined over time. Available features like the Selec-Terrain® Traction Management system give you the ability to pick from these terrain-specific drive modes with the turn of a knob:

  • Auto
  • Snow
  • Sand
  • Mud
  • Rock

The 4×4 systems in the Renegade, such as the available Jeep Active Drive Low system, deliver renowned traction and control, even reaching a remarkable 21:1 crawl ratio.
