Whether you’re navigating through a snowstorm or cruising to work on a sunny day, you’ll appreciate a vehicle that delivers the right balance of performance and capability. That energy all stems from the engine and drivetrain, where you’ll tap into fun horsepower and helpful traction.
The Nissan Rogue comes equipped with a 3-cylinder engine, while the Jeep Compass has a 4-cylinder one. Power outputs are similar, with the Rogue engine producing up to 201 horsepower and the Jeep Compass just behind at 200 horsepower.
Drivetrain is where things start to differ, as the Rogue comes standard with front-wheel drive, while the Compass already comes equipped with all-wheel drive. That means your Compass also sports the standard Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System. Said system offers modes such as Snow, Sand/Mud, and even available Rock mode to traverse over different surfaces.
If you want all-wheel drive on the Rogue, you’ll have to upgrade. There, you’ll find its own modes for Snow and Off-Road. The Compass, however, offers additional upgrades to its all-wheel drive system with options like the available Active Drive Low 4×4 system. Choose this configuration and you’ll be able to work with a 20:1 crawl ratio and low range capability for tricky terrain.
On your drives, it’s nice to have technology handy. Both the Jeep Compass and the Nissan Rogue offer touchscreen systems, app connections, and available built-in navigation to send important information or play your favorite songs.
The Jeep system manages to dominate with its standard 10.1-inch touchscreen compared to the Rogue’s 8-inch touchscreen. While the Rogue offers standard Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, the Compass includes both apps in a more convenient wireless format.
Another cool connection is to SiriusXM® Radio, where you can find new songs and shows. The Compass comes with a 6-month trial subscription, while the Rogue has a shorter, standard 3-month subscription.
Such media will play through the sound system. The Rogue’s comes with four speakers, while the standard Jeep one rocks six speakers.
In addition to technology, it’s important to have access to comfortable amenities. The Compass and the Rogue share a lot of the same standard features, including the following:
They also offer many of the same upgrades, including heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. Plus, you could find an available 8-way power driver’s seat and a driver’s seat memory system on either SUV.
With the Jeep Compass, however, you’ll find a few extras that make it easier to handle changing weather conditions. For example, the Compass has standard heated outside mirrors—an amenity you’d have to upgrade to on the Rogue. It’s also the only one of the two models to offer available rain-sensitive windshield wipers and LED fog lamps with cornering capability.
If you want a model that offers robust capability, more convenient technology, and additional amenities, then the Jeep Compass is the better choice for your drives. Come check it out in our showroom, where you can imagine all the new adventures you’ll take around Worcester, Auburn, or Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.
