Dodge is famed for their work with muscle cars. If you want big power in a big car, you can look to legends within the Dodge lineup, like the Charger and the Challenger. These models have been around awhile, so how does Dodge keep them fresh and personable? It all centers around trim levels.
The Dodge Charger trim levels range from your standard-duty muscle car at the base to a full-fledged track weapon at the top of the list. Trying to determine your ideal trim near Shrewsbury, Auburn, or Worcester, Massachusetts? Our team at Harr Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (CDJR) has laid it all out for you!
There are a lot of Dodge Charger trim levels, so let’s dive right in. The lineup starts with the SXT that features a 292-horsepower V6 engine. While not the most powerful Charger, the car comes with helpful standard amenities such as a ParkView® Rear Backup Camera and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™.
The GT version of the Charger improves the output of the V6 engine slightly, to 300 horsepower. Other sporty bits are introduced as well, such as:
The R/T trim level is the first Charger to introduce a V8 engine. This sturdy powerplant generates 370 horsepower from its 5.7L configuration. With an electronically controlled active exhaust and leather-wrapped performance steering wheel, this muscle car sounds and looks aggressive.
You can more confidently approach top speeds with the Scat Pack version of the Dodge Charger because the car is both quicker to start and stop than previous trims. Starting quickly off the line is easier thanks to Line Lock and Launch Control with Launch Assist, while stopping is a reassuring process courtesy of the Brembo 4-piston 4-wheel disc performance brakes.
The reason Dodge included these upgrades on the Scat Pack is because the model also touts a heftier engine: the HEMI® V8 boasts 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque.
The Scat Pack Widebody adds a wider, more aggressive stance to the Charger. This can be seen most notably with the performance fascia, mail slot air opening, fender flares, side sills, and front and rear fender flares.
You really start to get into the drag racing heritage of the Dodge Charger when you choose the second to last trim, the SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody. The monstrous engine in this car is a 6.2L HEMI® making 797 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque.
To corral all that power, the sedan touts a performance hood with heat extractors, a widebody competition suspension, and Brembo 6-piston performance front brakes with 4-piston rear brakes.
It doesn’t get any loonier than the SRT Jailbreak version of the Dodge Charger. This fire-spitting machine is all about the track numbers:
Choosing the Dodge Charger trim for your daily routine around Worcester, Auburn, or Shrewsbury, MA, does mean more than just picking the appropriate amount of power. Styling, technology, and more go into every trim. Still, it’s hard not to look at the raw strength of this muscle car as the deciding factor when shopping.
