2021 Jeep Gladiator Review
Gladiator Performance
The Gladiator comes with a 3.6L V6 engine that produces 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. This engine pairs with a 6-speed manual transmission, but an 8-speed automatic transmission is also available. Another engine option is a 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 that produces 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque, which gets an exclusive version of the 8-speed transmission.
While all models boast incredible off-road capability, the Mojave and Rubicon models are the best trail-ready Gladiators. They add features like additional ground clearance, massive all-terrain tires, a sand-running setup, automatic sway bar disconnects, and locking front and rear differentials. Properly equipped, the Gladiator can tow a best-in-class 7,650 pounds with the Sport model and trailering package. All other models can tow between 4,000 and 7,000 pounds. Payloads range from 1,075 pounds to 1,700 pounds.
Gladiator Interior
The Gladiator has an impressive interior with ample head- and legroom for passengers in both the front and rear seats. Three adults can sit in the back comfortably, making it ideal for off-roading adventures, road trips, and running errands. The Gladiator is available with both soft- and hard-top options. Optional interior upgrades include heated seats and a heated steering wheel.
All configurations come with a 5-foot bed and a variety of cargo enhancements, such as a spray-in bed liner, a 115-volt power outlet, and a roll-up cover. The aluminum tailgate is easy to open and close for loading and unloading.
Gladiator Technology and Safety
Numerous technology features are included with the Gladiator, such as a 5-inch display screen. Optional features include a Uconnect® infotainment with either a 7-inch or 8.4-inch touch screen and Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration, which allows you to sync your phone to stream media and music through the onboard system.
For safety, the Gladiator includes a ParkView® Rear Back-Up Camera and standard safety equipment like air bags. Several packages are available with advanced safety features, such as rear parking sensors, LED taillights, and Blind Spot Monitoring, which alert you to vehicles or pedestrians in your blind spots while you change lanes or back up. Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go is also available, which sets your follow distance and adjusts your speed to stay with the flow of traffic. Another feature is Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking, which applies the brakes if the vehicle detects an impending collision.
