Drivers in Worcester, Auburn, and Shrewsbury can learn more about the new Dodge with this comprehensive 2021 Dodge Durango review from Harr Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.
The Durango SXT and GT come with a 3.6-liter V6 engine as its base engine, which produces 293 horsepower with a single exhaust and 295 horsepower with a dual exhaust option. Both have 260 lb-ft of torque and pair to an eight-speed automatic transmission. If you’re searching for more power, the next step up is a 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 that produces 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, which is available with the R/T and Citadel.
The additional high-performance engines include a 6.4-liter HEMI® V8 that produces 475 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque, which comes with the SRT 392 trim, and the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 710 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque, which comes with the Hellcat. Several performance upgrades are available, including launch control and special drive modes. Suitably equipped, the Durango can tow between 6,200 pounds and 8,700 pounds, depending on the configuration.
The Durango comes with two rows that seat five people in the base model, though a two-person third row is available. All other models come with three rows standard. For more comfort, you can swap the second-row bench seat for captain’s chairs, which brings the capacity to six people. Everyone will have plenty of space in all three rows and ample legroom to stretch out and relax. Optional comfort features include:
- Leather upholstery
- Heated front and second-row seats
- Leather and suede upholstery
- Ventilated front seats
With all the rear seats up, the Durango has 17.2 cubic feet of space, which expands to 43.3 cubic feet with the third row folded flat. With both rear rows folded, the maximum cargo capacity is 85.1 cubic feet. You’ll find several small storage spaces in the cabin for passengers to stow their keys or wallets.
The Durango comes with an 8.4-inch touchscreen and the Uconnect® 4 software, which features sharp graphics, easy-to-use controls, and wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration. With the larger optional 10.1-inch touchscreen, you get the new Uconnect® 5 infotainment system, which introduces Amazon Alexa to the app connectivity list. Other features include satellite radio, four USB ports, and voice recognition.
Numerous safety features are present for the Durango, including front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and automatic high-beam headlights for low-light situations. Forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking is another optional feature that alerts you to potential frontal collisions and applies the brakes automatically. Another highlight is a lane-departure warning, a feature that warns you if you drift from your lane on the highway.
